Last Call at Ruby's In 2010, during the period of sweeping changes to much beloved Coney Island (‘The People’s Playground’), it was announced that all businesses on the Reigelmann Boardwalk between W 10th Street and Stillwell Ave would be evicted, including Ruby’s Bar and Grill. Patrons gathered at the bar to celebrate and organize against the last minute eviction. Cindy and Melody Jacobs spoke emotionally about saving the venerable institution-and there was live music by Brooklyn musicians Sean Kershaw and the New Jack Ramblers. Several surprises awaited the filmmaker on his return trip to the subway station. |
